Barovier&Toso,

2023

Earth and glass, shaped in poetry.

The window installation unfolds as a poetic homage to Barovier&Toso’s legacy, revealing Venetian glassmaking through the rhythms of nature. Glass pieces appear to rise from crushed silica, like plants emerging from fertile soil, symbolizing where skill, imagination, and raw material converge. This narrative highlights the alchemy of glass, shaped from earth and elevated by human hands into luminous expressions of artistry.

Suspended above, delicate butterflies and ornaments echo the intricate beauty of Barovier&Toso’s historic chandeliers. Their lightness suggests patience, precision, and centuries of Venetian mastery. These floating elements create a moment suspended between heritage and contemporary interpretation, balancing ornament and restraint while reinforcing the poetic dialogue between fragility, light, and enduring craftsmanship within the installation.

A restrained monochromatic palette allows the material itself to take center stage. Subtle variations in transparency, texture, and reflection become the primary language of the composition. Light moves across surfaces with quiet intensity, revealing clarity and depth. The result is a calm, refined environment that celebrates glass in its purest state while acknowledging its historical and contemporary relevance.

The design process sought to uncover the hidden origins of glass and reconnect it to its tactile beginnings. Collaboration with Barovier&Toso enriched this exploration, blending historical expertise with renewed visual sensitivity. Through careful arrangement and material focus, the installation becomes more than display; it evolves into a meditation on growth, transformation, and the enduring spirit of Venetian craftsmanship.
