La Mise is a seating collection for Cassina, comprising sofas and an armchair that explore fabric’s expressive potential and upholstery’s sculptural language. Each piece wears its cover like an informal dress, soft and padded, tailored yet relaxed. Folds, seams, and texture reveal character, transforming textile into defining element while balancing comfort, craftsmanship, and contemporary elegance.
The concept began with giving fabric a central role in shaping identity and comfort. Inspired by a kimono’s wrap, a single generous layer envelops the structure, allowing natural folds to form along contours. Within Cassina’s craft tradition, textiles are chosen for beauty and emotional resonance. The surface feels instinctive yet refined, expressing care through visible material gesture.
Armrests feature loose flaps that can be drawn inward, enhancing intimacy and protection. A hand-executed zigzag stitch traces the seams, adding subtle graphic rhythm that highlights cushions and profiles. Applied on fully assembled upholstery, this detail showcases expertise and emphasizes the dialogue between decoration and structure, reinforcing the collection’s sartorial character.
Internally, a metal frame with elastic webbing and CFC-free polyurethane foam supports feather padding for enveloping comfort. The family includes multiple sofa configurations and an armchair, balancing softness with architectural clarity. Relaxed proportions and tactile sensitivity define La Mise, celebrating imperfection, honesty, and the enduring art of thoughtful upholstery design.
