A sensory journey through the timeless alchemy of Murano glass.
Created for the 730th anniversary of Barovier&Toso, Alchemic Jewels unfolds as a multi-sensory journey between Milan and Venice, celebrating the enduring magic of Murano glass. The project explores the transformative dialogue between material and light, tracing centuries of craftsmanship where tradition and innovation converge. Each creation embodies fire, air, water, and earth, capturing a poetic tension between fragility and permanence, heritage and renewal.
Presented at Euroluce, the installation became an immersive landscape evoking Venice through reflection, architecture, and color. Five thematic sceneries—Flora&Flutter, Burning Light, Water’s Edge, Breath of Gold, and Cups of Joy—interpreted glassmaking through vivid chromatic harmonies and tactile compositions. Deep cedar greens, fiery oranges, and navy blues recalled historic piazzas, while collections such as Agave and Midtown expressed technical mastery with contemporary clarity and expressive refinement.
In Venice, Alchemic Jewels assumed a quieter, contemplative dimension within the boutique setting. The window installation illuminated the city’s centuries-old legacy, transforming glass into living matter shaped by light and time. Each piece appeared as a suspended jewel, revealing subtle textures and hues reminiscent of the lagoon’s shifting reflections. Tradition and experimentation coexisted in equilibrium, turning the showcase into a tribute to Murano’s artistry and its constant evolution.
In Milan, the narrative became more introspective inside the showroom, framing glass as both raw and refined, ancient and modern. Surfaces captured and refracted light, emphasizing gesture and process as much as form. Through techniques preserved for over seven centuries, Barovier&Toso continues transforming matter into radiance and fragility into strength. Alchemic Jewels ultimately celebrates Murano’s spirit, where craftsmanship and imagination unite in timeless, luminous expression.
